Having the right information is vital when moving into a new city.
The system in Switzerland can sometimes be complicated to understand, therefore we take great care in helping the students through the process. This page was created to give you a slight head start in knowing which paper work will be required.
When arriving in Switzerland it will be required to sign up in the local commune, where your are staying. The commune will then demand for certain paperwork, of which some will have to be organised through the university, but there is other paper work which everybody will need to bring. So this little list is a guide to show people what the commune may ask, as each commune is different, therefore having their own rules.
List of paperwork;
- Passport or ID Card
- Birth Certificate
- Rental agreement
- A certificate of registration with the institute where you are studying, also showing duration of studies
- 2 Passport size photos
- Certificate of financial assumption
- Financial evidence of the guarantor having signed the certificate of taking charge
There are certain items on this list which the student will be required to bring with them. Others of course can only be obtained when the student arrives in Switzerland. Certain documents may need to be translated into one of the languages used in Switzerland which are German, French an Italien. English will also be accepted. If a translation is required we have a left a link below of a translation company in Lausanne, who can help you through the process.
